Blocked Drains Dudley

Dudley Plumbing Co clears blocked drains in Dudley, from a gurgling basin to a sewer spilling out of the yard gully. A camera looks inside the pipe before we pick a method, and you get a firm price first. Ring (02) 4063 3469 or send the form, or see the rest of our work on the Dudley Plumbing Co home page.

Why Drains Block Here

Roots off the bush

Glenrock presses in along the seaward side, and banksia and eucalypt roots search the joints of old sewer pipes. A root tip can squeeze through a fine crack, and once inside, the mass catches everything behind it.

Clay that has shifted

Under the old village, the house drains are salt-glazed earthenware, put down generations before the fibro and brick veneer arrived. That clay is tough, but a century of wet ground moving underneath has opened joints and cracked barrels.

A slope that concentrates water

Rain running off the high ground gathers in a few low spots, so trouble anywhere up the line tends to show itself at the bottom first.

What Is Actually Down the Pipe?

We look before we clear. The symptom points to where the fault sits:

  • Every fixture in the house draining slowly points to the main sewer line.
  • One sink or shower backing up on its own points to a blockage in that branch.
  • Water rising out of a yard gully in dry weather suggests a choked or broken main.

How the camera run works, and what it can show, is set out under CCTV drain inspection.

The Clear, Step by Step

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 3469 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Footage picks the tool

High-pressure jetting for roots and grease, the electric eel where an old line might not take the pressure.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

What Does a Drain Clear Cost?

The drain-specific costs, all itemised:

  • The fault itself: roots can be cut and flushed, while a broken length moves the job to digging or pipe relining.
  • The route of the line: pipe under a slab or a low floor is slower to reach than pipe under lawn.
  • The material: worn earthenware may need the eel instead of full jet pressure, which changes the gear and the time.
  • Night work: a clear booked after hours is priced at the night rate, which you hear while still on the phone.

Dudley Drain Services

Which drain job do you need? Each one has its own page:

CCTV Drain Inspection

See before anyone digs. The camera run that shows roots, cracks or a collapse. What a camera run finds.

Drain Jetting

Water, not chemicals. A jet at high pressure strips roots and grease off the pipe wall. Book a jetting clean.

Blocked Sewer

Every fixture at once. When the main line chokes, the whole house backs up together. Get the sewer cleared.

Stormwater Drains

Yard lines in a low. Gullies that drown in an east-coast low and spill across the lawn. Clear a stormwater line.

Pipe Relining

A sleeve cured inside the old clay. A cracked sewer gets repaired with the yard left alone. How relining works.

Tree Root Removal

Roots out, entry point found. The camera shows where they got in so the regrowth can be stopped. Roots cut from the line.

Mined Ground, Old Clay

The ground under Dudley has a mining past

A reserve off Caldwell Avenue still holds the big cement cover over the old colliery airshaft, and undermined ground can settle for decades after the digging stops. Pipe laid across it sinks where the ground gives way.

Settled clay cracks

Century-old earthenware draining to the Frog Hollow flat opens at the joints as that ground shifts, and some blockages here prove to be broken lengths rather than clogs. Filming first is how a quick clear gets told apart from a dig.

When the Job Belongs to Someone Else

When we're not the right call. Sewage or water surfacing out in the street, beyond your boundary, comes from a Hunter Water main, and the repair out there is theirs. A blockage from the boundary inwards is ours.

Two other jobs go elsewhere on this site:

Plumber collecting gear from the ute toolbox

emergency call

A drain fault that has flooded the house and needs the supply isolated right now is an emergency call.

Drain camera monitor showing the inside of a pipe

leak detection

A hidden water leak under a slab is a job for our leak detection work rather than the drain camera.

What Dudley Locals Ask About Drains

Do tree roots come back once a drain is cleared?

Yes, since clearing takes out the mass but not the gap it grew through. That is the reason for the second camera pass. When it shows cracked clay or a sagging length, relining or a spot repair closes the gap so the line is not cleared twice a year.

My gully in the low part of the village overflows in heavy rain. Is that a blocked drain?

Sometimes. The combined gullies on the Frog Hollow flat were laid for a quieter century, so a big coastal downpour can lift water through them with the pipe perfectly whole. Footage from inside the line tells a choke apart from a gully simply outgunned by the storm.

Do you clear blocked drains with chemicals?

No. The jetter or the electric eel does the clearing, picked to suit what the footage shows. Drain chemicals soften a little grease, leave roots untouched and can eat at old earthenware that is already worn thin.

Will I see what the camera found in my drain?

Yes. The plumber records the line before clearing and again afterwards, then plays both clips with you on site. You see the blockage and the pipe wall behind it, so the result is something you have watched rather than something you are told.
