Blocked Sewer Dudley

A blocked sewer in Dudley gets filmed first and then cleared by jetter or electric eel, depending on what the old pipe can stand. The price is settled before any gear comes off the van, and where the camera finds a failed length, relining is priced on the spot. Reach the plumber in Dudley on (02) 4063 3469 or send the form.

Plumber repairing an exposed pipe in a trench

How Do You Know It's the Main Line?

A single slow basin means a clog in its own branch. A choked main sewer shows up everywhere in the house together. Watch for:

  • The toilet, shower and floor wastes gurgling or surging together
  • Water climbing the yard gully whenever the washing machine or dishwasher empties
  • A sewer smell hanging near the gully, the low side of the yard or under the floor
  • The line clearing and then choking again within weeks

That last sign matters most. A sewer that keeps choking has something wrong with the pipe, and another clear will not hold.

How the Sewer Clear Runs

Four steps, and the footage steers each one.

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 3469 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Camera down, then the clear

The footage shows whether roots, grease or a broken barrel is holding the line shut, and the clearing tool is chosen to suit how old and how fragile the line is.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

Cracked or dropped sections on the footage move the job to pipe relining or a spot repair rather than a third clear of the same choke.

What Moves the Price of a Sewer Clear?

Sewer work is priced on four things, each named before the job starts:

  • Getting in An outside clean-out at the boundary saves the time of pulling a toilet pan or lifting boards in a miners' cottage.
  • The footage Roots cut out with the jet; a broken earthenware barrel needs repairing, and the camera decides which.
  • The clearing method The jet scours hard; brittle old clay sometimes calls for the slower electric eel.
  • Late calls A sewer that overflows at midnight is cleared at the night rate, stated while you are still on the line.

We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.

Old Clay Under an Old Village

The sewers here were laid for a smaller place

The village core was sold off in waves between 1889 and 1927, and weatherboard homes built on those lots drain through salt-glazed earthenware that has moved with generations of wet ground. The mining under the suburb left undermined ground that can still settle, so a barrel can sag or snap where support has gone.

Roots find those joints without help

Banksia and eucalypt roots from the bush edge push into any hairline gap, and a mass inside the pipe traps solids until sewage lifts out of the yard gully. Cutting and follow-up are covered under tree root removal.

Some choke-ups are collapses in disguise

Over undermined ground, what behaves like a root blockage can be a barrel broken right through, and only the footage separates the two before anyone commits to a fix.

When We're Not the Right Call

When your own line films clean all the way to the boundary and sewage still rises, the choke is in the street main, and Hunter Water repairs that. Anything from your boundary to the house is ours to fix.

Questions Before the Sewer Clears

What are the signs of a blocked sewer main?

The tell is two fixtures failing together: toilet and shower gurgling at once, or the yard gully lifting as the washing machine drains. A sewage smell around the gully or under the house adds to it. When the whole house acts up in one go, the main line is the likely spot.

Do you need to dig up the yard to fix it?

Not as a rule. The camera finds the fault and how deep it sits before any tools come out, so a clear or a reline leaves the garden alone. Digging only happens where the pipe has fully given way, and then only over the failed length.

Can an old Dudley sewer line be relined instead of replaced?

Yes, where the barrel still holds its shape and the trouble is cracked joints or root entry. The liner seals it from inside with no trench. Clay that has dropped and shattered needs a repair or new pipe instead.

Who looks after the main past my boundary?

Hunter Water owns the sewer main in the street and repairs faults on it. Your own house line, from the boundary in, is the part we clear and repair, and the camera shows which section holds the fault before you pay for anything.
